There are times where we cannot avoid saying "Sana all" or " I hope everyone is like that" in English, but how can we turn that big "SANA ALL" into reality? What is the secret to become like our idols or role models? Practice....but not just practice!
Neurons
They commonly say "Practice makes perfect" but what I believe is PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS. In your nervous system, you have billions of active nerve cells called neurons. There is this process called neural pruning where in the less used neural connections are removed while the one we always used strengthen their connections. You will be able to master anything you want to get better, the more you practice.
10, 000 hour rule
If you know the 10, 000 hour rule popularized by Mr. Gladwell in his book Outliers, it is not true as it has two major flaws. First, it emphasis quantity, not quality. You have to keep in mind that your goal is to get better, not to complete the 10, 000 hours of practice. If you want to focus on the quality of your practice, get an instructor who will be able to give a feedback and correct your mistakes. Second, there are other factors that can affect the result like age and genes. Other people started at a young age while others have innate abilities.
Motivation and Sleep
Motivation will become your fuel to continue the long journey of practicing. Knowing what your goals are might help! On the other hand, sleep should not be taken for granted. It is during your sleep that the brain is processing new information and memories.
Slow and Steady
You will remember more what you've practice if you practice it slowly. Don't cram!
